Cusco is one of those extraordinary cities that combine elegant and simple beauty all into one. Extravagant stone buildings and churches give it its sophisticated appeal, while blue accented windows and cobblestone streets give it an effortless charm ? Like I said on my Instagram, Cusco is a place that allows you to step back in time. It appears as though all its ancient details have been preserved with no signs of adaptations to passing time. Outside the main square, walls made of mud are crumbling, locals are wearing traditional Incan patterns, and street vendors are selling coca leaves, alpaca scarves, and several other Peruvian delicacies. It’s lively yet calm, plus refined but rustic, all at the same time, making it a city of beautiful contradictions that seamlessly compliment each other.
Outside of Cusco’s dynamic city center, you’ll find the Sacred Valley, lush farmland, and sleepy ghost towns- all which have diverse natural landscapes. There’s the salt mines in Maras, Incan agricultural sites in Moray, glorious views of the Andean mountains, and so much more!
