I’ve been a bad blogger lately… but I have good reason!! I’m on a family trip in Kauai right now and my days have consisted of non-stop adventures, exploring, and loads of time soaking up some vitamin D 😎 I’m slowly making my way back to reality as my trip is sadly coming to an end (only 2 nights left! 🙁 ). But the good news is that I have so much to share with everyone!!
First off, I’ve decided to add a “Do It Yourself” section on my blog because I’ve been making a bunch of all-natural beauty and health concoctions lately and really think my female readers will love them all as much as I do :).
The first creation I wanted to share is this mermaid hair spray- It leaves your hair looking like you’ve hopped right off the beach after a long day spent in the salty ocean!! It’s one of my favorite DIY projects I’ve made thus far. My hair is naturally stick straight and won’t even hold curls from an iron, but this stuff made it so wavy with just a few sprays (and NO HEAT!). Plus, it’s made with all-natural ingredients that don’t dry out your hair like most beachy hair sprays do, and even has ingredients that leave it more hydrated than before (thanks to the coconut oil and aloe!). It’s my little miracle in a bottle.
Ingredients (makes about 3 2oz. bottles):
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 tablespoon natural sea salt
- 2 teaspoons organic coconut oil
- 2 teaspoons aloe vera gel (straight from the plant if possible!)
- 5-10 drops lavender essential oil (or any other of your choice)
Directions: To make, combine all ingredients into an empty spray bottle. Screw on the cap, shake well, and you’re ready to go! Just spray the mixture onto damp hair, scrunch to form piecey waves, and then let air dry. So easy!!
**Note**: Coconut oil may become solid inside the bottle at room temperature. If this is the case, plug your sink, fill it with hot water, and let the bottle soak submerged in the water for a few minutes. This should make the coconut oil return to a liquid state. Shake well once it has reached this state and spray away!!
